After School Instructor
Schedule: 25 hours/week | 12:30–6:00 p.m. | Through May 2026
Department: MARVEL*US Youth Programs (K–8th)
CLC - The Hive is seeking dynamic and mission-driven individuals who share our values and are eager to grow both personally and professionally. We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of youth, and we want staff who are equally committed to empowering students. Our MARVEL*US Youth Department operates after-school and summer learning programs for youth ages 5–13. These programs integrate academic support, enrichment, career exploration, physical activity, and social-emotional learning. As an After School Instructor, you will play a key role in delivering engaging activities, building positive relationships with youth, and ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively supervise and manage participants in all program activities to ensure safety and engagement.
- Plan and lead interactive, creative, and age-appropriate activities in educational, enrichment, and SEL areas.
- Support individualized learning needs and encourage positive youth development.
- Communicate regularly with the Site Coordinator regarding program updates, needs, and participant progress.
- Maintain open, professional communication with parents/guardians and complete developmental profiles for participants.
- Participate in required trainings, planning sessions, and staff meetings.
- Collect program data accurately and submit by established deadlines.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Previous experience as an instructor, counselor, or youth program leader preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to design and deliver engaging activities.
- Organizational skills, initiative, and flexibility in dynamic environments.
- Interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse youth and families.
- Problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking.
- Ability to use instructional technology, media centers, and experiential learning tools.
Other Requirements
- Must successfully pass a state criminal background check
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Ability to remain actively engaged while supervising students for extended periods.
