Job Summary

The School of Education in the College of Arts and Sciences at Clayton State University invites applications for a full¿time, limited¿term Assistant Professor of Teacher Education, beginning Fall 2026. This position includes teaching undergraduate and graduate Education courses and serving as the Coordinator of the Elementary Education program.

The successful candidate will teach sections of introductory Education courses and provide leadership and oversight for the Elementary Education program, including curriculum coordination, program assessment support, and collaboration with faculty and campus partners.

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory and graduate-level Education courses; this position carries a 4/4 teaching load with one course release per semester for coordination of the Elementary Education program.
  • Collaborate with School of Education faculty to support the success and progression of teacher candidates.
  • Supervise teacher candidates in school settings, both in person and virtually, using GoReact or a comparable platform.
  • Participate in university public school partnership activities that advance clinical practice and educator preparation.
  • Contribute service to the department, college, and university through committee work and related professional engagement.
  • Maintain an active research agenda with scholarly publications related to the discipline.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in Education
  • Extensive teaching and research experience related to P-5 education
  • Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in P-5 classrooms
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and evaluating instruction
  • Prior experience providing leadership, program coordination, or academic advising
  • Commitment to responsive pedagogy and educator preparation through a critical, access-and opportunity-minded lens
