Architect II

Reports to: Product Development Supervisor

Department: Design

Job Status: Full Time / Salary

Mobility Profile: Office Optimal

Position Summary: This position is responsible for developing and reviewing architectural designs in collaboration with architecture, interior design, and engineering teams. This position will evaluate and develop product strategies, as well as develop and oversee schedules and timelines related to architecture projects within Clayton Home Building Group.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop floor plans, elevations, and architectural features for Home Building Facilities.
  • Evaluate and help develop product strategies for Home Building Facilities and Home Building Group as a whole.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Interior Design, and others to develop new and innovative home designs.
  • Research and stay current on Architecture and Design trends.
  • Collaborate with Rendering Team to help visually express design concepts.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in architecture is required
  • Between 3 to 6 years of related experience
  • Strong working knowledge of the latest version(s) of AutoCAD and/or REVIT
  • Strong understanding of the housing construction process, materials, and codes
  • Understanding of architectural design standards and familiarity with related codes
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient using programs such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with design team and home building facilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present design intent to design team and home building facilities
  • Keen attention to detail and advanced time management skills
  • Strong space planning skills

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing.

Travel Requirements:

  • 15%
