About the Role:
The CNC Machinist Level II plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and programming computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts and components. This position requires a deep understanding of machining techniques, tooling, and materials to ensure that all products meet stringent quality and specification standards. The machinist will interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to set up and adjust machines for optimal performance. Collaboration with engineering and quality assurance teams is essential to troubleshoot issues and implement continuous improvements. Ultimately, the role ensures efficient production workflows while maintaining safety and compliance with industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with CNC programming and machine setup.
- Strong knowledge of machining tools, materials, and measurement techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a formal CNC machining apprenticeship or technical training program.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam or Fusion 360.
- Familiarity with ISO quality standards and lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair CNC machines.
- Certification from a recognized machining or manufacturing organization.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines including lathes, mills, and grinders to manufacture parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
- Program CNC machines using G-code and other programming languages, making adjustments as necessary to optimize performance.
- Perform routine inspections and quality checks on finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality control personnel to resolve machining issues and improve production processes.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation for traceability and compliance purposes.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
