Floating Position - Operator

Job duties are to include, but not limited to:
As a landfill employee this will be a floating position and you will have to fill in where landfill foreman needs any extra help. Some of the area’s that could be required will be shop helper, water truck driver, screener and equipment operator.
You need to be able to operate or learn to operate and run skillfully, safely and knowledgeably the following equipment: compactor, rubber-tired scraper, front loader, grader, water truck, sander and any equipment deemed necessary to do required job. Need to be able to identify maintenance needs, perform safety walk around, and complete appropriate forms for maintenance. Fuel equipment as needed and also at the end of your shift. Need to keep equipment clean inside and out. Must drive water truck on public roads, water compost rows, landings, and be available to drive front loader to load compost for customers.
Need to participate in safety meetings and employee meetings. Need to be HazMat knowledgeable. Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement. Required to work in adverse weather conditions, including summer and winter conditions. Job will require working Saturdays.
Be able to follow both written and oral instructions. Must work well with the public and co-workers. Will be required to perform a variety of manual labor duties including, but not limited to, heavy lifting, snow removal, fence repair, weed control, septage and grease trap monitoring, road maintenance, pulling tires from loads, picking up papers and various debris, and all other duties as assigned by supervisor. Must be able to maintain a professional attitude towards the public even under adverse situations.
Must be willing and able to pass drug and alcohol testing.
Hours: Tuesday through Friday 8-5 with hour lunch and Saturday 7-3:30 ½ hour lunch.
Pay: $21.00 per hour and full county benefits
