Job Overview
We are seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Support (CPRS) to join our team and provide assistance to individuals in need of support as they begin their journey toward recovery. Peers in recovery serve as mentors or recovery-support partners to provide encouragement, and support.
Responsibilities
-Develop and maintain cooperative team relationship within the agency and with external community organizations.
-Meet with clients as needed after the initial meeting to discuss routine recovery issues from a peer perspective.
-Assist in finding necessary community services to meet basic needs.
-Role model behavior that is consistent with and supportive to people looking for help with substance use disorder.
-Provide education about self-help groups, obtaining sponsorship, and assisting clients in finding recovery support meetings that accomodate their schedules and child care needs.
Qualifications
-Ability to work flexible schedule
-Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
-Congenial, organized and compassionate individual to work in a cooperative team relationship within the agency and with external community organizations.
-Demonstrable social and interpersonal communication skills in working with people of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds to maintain effective, warm and supportive relationships.
-Must be personally in recovery for a minimum of one year.
-Knowledge and experience in the field of substance use disorder and/or mental health.
-Pass DHS background study
-18 years of age or older
