Job Summary
Consists of Security work in the County Jail Complex, maintain order and discipline among detainees remanded to the custody of the Sheriff. Conducts care , custody, control and transportation of inmates. Enforce security rules, regulation and procedures. Accurately documents records and maintains information, records and logs various activities. Duties include data entry, answering telephone and completing of required paperwork/reports. Starting pay is determined by experience.
Duties
- Monitor inmate behavior and enforce facility rules to prevent disturbances or violence
- Conduct regular patrols of the facility using CCTV systems and other surveillance tools
- Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents, applying conflict management techniques as needed
- Write detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and disciplinary actions
- Assist with inmate intake, release procedures, and transfers while maintaining security protocols
- Provide first aid or CPR in emergency situations until medical personnel arrive
- Maintain accurate records of inmate movements and activities
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other staff to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards
- Conduct searches for contraband using security procedures and equipment
Requirements
- Prior experience in law enforcement, security, military service, or related fields is desirable
- Knowledge of CCTV operation, conflict management, report writing, and security protocols
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid preferred.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with inmates, staff, and external agencies
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Must pass background checks and adhere to all training requirements for safety and legal compliance
