JOB TITLE: BUS AIDE

LENGTH OF TERM: 180 Days/hours as assigned
SUMMARY: Assists special services students being transported by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Other Duties May Be Assigned)
Education/Certification/Licenses
High School Diploma or GED
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information and/or speak effectively with supervisors, students, parents, and other employees of the school corporation
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts and the ability to complete routine arithmetical calculations
Reasoning Abilities
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
Other Skills And Abilities
Ability to use machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which are commonly associated with this type of work

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All employees shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.

- Assists students being loaded onto and off of bus
- Ensures students are properly secured and remain seated while on bus
- Performs routine first aid and CPR as needed
- Maintains student discipline while students are on the bus
- Assists in preparation and implementation of emergency evacuations as required
- Maintains confidentiality
- Maintains a regular and reliable level of attendance in order to perform and complete duties as outlined herein
