POSITION SUMMARY
The Social Media & Visual Identity Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the Clay Center's social media strategy while maintaining and strengthening the organization's visual identity across all platforms. This position creates engaging digital content, oversees the Clay Center's social media presence, manages and mentors social media interns, and ensures all visual and digital communications consistently reflect the Clay Center brand. The Social Media & Visual Identity Manager leads the planning, coordination, and oversight of photography and videography efforts to build and maintain a comprehensive, high-quality catalog of visual assets that support marketing, fundraising, membership, education, performances, exhibitions, and community engagement. This position collaborates with departments across the organization to tell the Clay Center's story through compelling, cohesive, and visually engaging content.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Social Media Strategy & Management
  • Develop and implement comprehensive short-term and long-term social media strategies aligned with the Clay Center's marketing and organizational goals.
  • Manage the Clay Center's social media channels, ensuring timely, engaging, and audience-appropriate content across all platforms.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic content calendar coordinating campaigns, events, performances, exhibitions, educational programming, and community initiatives.
  • Create, write, edit, and publish engaging multimedia content including graphics, photography, video, reels, stories, and written copy.
  • Monitor social media trends, platform updates, and emerging best practices to continuously improve performance and audience engagement.
  • Monitor and respond to audience engagement, comments, messages, and community interactions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Track, analyze, and report social media performance metrics and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate paid social media advertising campaigns as assigned.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather content and ensure accurate promotion of Center offerings.
  • Coordinate social media efforts with marketing partners, sponsors, artists, and outside agencies when appropriate.
  • Manage social media coverage during performances, exhibitions, special events, and community programs, including occasional evening and weekend assignments.
Visual Identity & Brand Management
  • Maintain brand guidelines for social media graphics, digital communications, and visual assets.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistency across print, digital, website, email, signage, and promotional materials.
  • Develop and execute photography and videography plans that capture performances, exhibitions, educational programming, special events, and day-to-day activities.
  • Oversee the creation, organization, and maintenance of a comprehensive digital catalog of photography and video assets for use across marketing, development, membership, public relations, and institutional communications.
  • Coordinate photography and videography schedules with staff, interns, volunteers, and contracted photographers/videographers to ensure consistent documentation of the Center's programs and activities.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Serve as steward of the Clay Center's visual identity and ensure consistent application of brand standards across digital platforms.
  • Recruit, supervise, schedule, train, and mentor social media interns.
  • Delegate content creation assignments and provide coaching, feedback, and quality control for intern-produced content.
  • Coordinate with Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Development, Box Office, Guest Services, and other departments to identify storytelling opportunities.
  • Support broader marketing initiatives and special projects as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Public Relations, or related field.
Experience: 2–4 years of professional experience managing social media, digital marketing, brand management, communications, or related experience. Experience supervising interns or student employees preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.); experience with social media management platforms, analytics tools, Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite; photography and video editing software preferred.
Other Requirements: Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; strong visual design and branding abilities; photography and videography experience preferred; knowledge of current social media trends and best practices; excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; creative problem-solving skills; willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support organizational events and social media coverage.
