ABOUT CLATSOP COUNTY
Today Clatsop County is one of nine Home Rule counties in Oregon. Five non-partisan elected Commissioners set policy and appoint a full-time County Manager, who is responsible for daily operations. County services are provided through these divisions: County Administration (County Manager), Assessment and Taxation, Budget and Finance, County Clerk, Juvenile, Public Health, Public Works, Community Development, the District Attorney, and Sheriff’s Offices. The county also administers a road district, a rural law enforcement district, and a local sewer district.
THE POSITION
We are seeking a highly discreet and proactive professional to provide comprehensive administrative and strategic support to the County Manager, Board of Commissioners, and Executive Staff.
The Executive Assistant and Clerk of the Board of Commissioners serves as a vital operational liaison, ensuring the seamless flow of information between County leadership, government agencies, and the public. By managing high-level administrative functions, coordinating Board proceedings, and overseeing complex public records and fiscal tasks, this position provides the confidential support and independent judgment necessary to uphold transparency, legal compliance, and effective governance for the County

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, or a related field AND two (2) years of related professional experience working within a public organization with elected officials. OR
- An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, or related fields AND four (4) years of related professional experience working within a public organization with elected officials. OR
- Six (6) years of related training and experience in the clerical and/or administrative field working with elected officials. OR
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acceptable.
- College-level specialized courses in accounting or other related field.
- Previous experience in positions involving significant public contact and/or work in a public sector organization.
- Knowledge of specific computer software utilized by the County is desirable.
- Previous experience involving record keeping as well as taking transcribing minutes.
