Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Parts Manager to oversee the procurement, inventory, and distribution of automotive parts at our Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealership. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer-based inventory control skills, basic mechanical knowledge, and some experience with automotive diagnostics and repair processes. This is a small-town dealership with a big city sized wholesale parts business supporting the underground mining industry. The Assistant Parts Manager will work with the Parts Manager to coordinate with suppliers, manage warehouse activities, and utilize various ERP and order management systems to streamline parts operations.
Duties
- Manage overall supply chain activities including sourcing, procurement, and demand planning for automotive parts.
- Oversee supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of quality parts at competitive pricing.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through effective inventory control and warehouse management practices.
- Utilize Dealertrack, MOPAR, Cummins CUMPASS, and other order management software to process orders, track shipments, and update inventory data.
- Coordinate shipping & receiving processes, including logistics and freight management.
- Conduct regular audits of inventory to prevent discrepancies and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting with parts inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
Experience
- Proven experience in supply chain management within the automotive, industrial or manufacturing industry.
- Strong background in supplier management and procurement management.
- Basic familiarity with automotive diagnostics, OEM parts sourcing, and dealership operations is a plus
- Hands-on experience with warehouse management systems, ERP systems (Dealertrack, CUMPASS, MOPAR), inventory management software, and order management systems.
- Mechanical knowledge related to automotive repair is a plus.
- Experience operating forklifts or other warehouse equipment is preferred.
- Must be able to lift 50-75lbs unassisted
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures, logistics coordination, demand planning, and procurement processes.
- Prior experience working with dealership or automotive service environments is highly desirable.
