Job Overview
A small family-operated property management company in Chestnut Hill is searching for an experienced part-time (16 to 24 hours per week) accountant to provide comprehensive financial support. A wide range of responsibilities include managing financial transactions and records, preparing invoices, reconciling statements, managing filing systems, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. Assist with various administrative tasks as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all accounts payable and receivable financial records, including invoices, receipts, security deposits and other documentation, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Post financial transactions, reconcile bank statements and tenants’ accounts.
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, aged delinquency report and other ledgers.
- Process accounts payable invoices and manage payments.
- Process tenant invoices and monitor for prompt payment. Allocate monthly CAM expenses as well as year-end CAM reconciliations.
- Prepare and file monthly Use and Occupancy tax returns
- Update rent rolls to ensure accuracy.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and errors; prepare journal entries as needed, including year-end entries; process year end 1099s
- Maintain organized financial filing systems and databases. Ensure W-2s are received and current vendors’ certificates of insurance are on file.
- Manage and track financial activity on various investments
- Provide input for budget preparation and expense monitoring
- Communicate with vendors and residents regarding payments and other accounting-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Enter data into accounting software and other relevant computer programs, updating records and processing backups.
- Provide backup support to Executive Assistant when needed including payroll processing, preparing correspondence, etc
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 1 to 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, is required.
- Experience with Yardi or other property management software is a strong asset.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Ability to handle confidential information is vital, maintaining a high level of integrity and ethical conduct
- Must be well organized, flexible and able to work independently.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and great customer service skills are critical.
- Must be detail-oriented, proactive and able to multi-task
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16.0 – 24.0 per week
