Role Description The Trailer Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in North Las Vegas, NV. In this position, the mechanic inspects trailers for mechanical, structural, and safety issues, performs routine and preventive maintenance, and completes repairs on brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, doors, lights, and other trailer components. Daily tasks include diagnosing problems, replacing parts, conducting road-readiness checks, and documenting all work performed according to company and regulatory standards. The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe work area, using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment, and collaborating with supervisors and other technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs. The mechanic is expected to follow safety procedures, adhere to company policies, and support efficient workflow in the shop.
Qualifications
- Strong trailer Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair skills for commercial equipment.
- Experience with Preventive Maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Ability to work with Heavy Equipment, including safe use of lifts, jacks, and power tools.
- Effective Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and structural trailer issues.
- Previous experience as a trailer or truck mechanic in a shop or fleet environment preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT and safety regulations related to commercial trailers is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, manuals, and technical diagrams.
- Physical capability to stand, bend, lift, and work in various shop conditions throughout the shift.
- Reliability, strong attention to detail, and commitment to safe work practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical or vocational training is an asset.
