Class 101 is a national college planning franchise dedicated to providing expert guidance in the college search, admissions, and financial aid process. As college advisors, we help families identify schools that fit their student's goals and budget, explore career paths that align with their abilities and interests, and build a plan to get there in the most cost-effective way possible.
We are looking for a part-time College Advisor at our Houston Heights, Texas office. Someone who enjoys working directly with students, can build trust quickly with families, and is committed to delivering a proven, structured college planning experience.
What You'll Do
- Meet individually with students to guide them through the college planning process using the Class 101 curriculum
- Help students build and refine their college lists based on their goals, interests, and family budget
- Counsel students and families on scholarships, financial aid, and application strategy
- Guide students through the essay writing process, including main, supplemental, honors, and scholarship essays
- Develop and interpret progress reports on standardized test performance
- Keep students on track with deadlines and application timelines throughout the process
- Serve as an instructor for group prep classes using Class 101's curriculum
- Deliver consultative presentations to prospective students and families considering our services
- Maintain and grow your knowledge of colleges most commonly reviewed by students in our area
What We're Looking For
- Genuine passion for working with high school students and their families
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable with deadlines
- Comfortable working a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
- Ability to learn and consistently execute a structured system
- Bachelor's degree and prior experience in education, counseling, or advising preferred
Compensation and Details
- Part-time, hourly W-2 position
- $25–$30/hour, commensurate with experience
- Approximately 5–20 hours per week, with flexibility to grow
- Evenings and weekends required
- Collaborative team environment with ongoing training and support
