Case Management Supervisor/Clinical Supervisor

The Clinical Supervisor directly supports the clinical team through supervision, working through crisis situations, and training. Clinical Supervisor reviews all documentation to ensure quality and timely submission. Facilitation of all clinical meetings and assignment of cases for the clinical team. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Clinical program.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Hire, train, coach, develop, and monitor staff on their team.
  • Direct and supervise team members in areas including:
    • Individual and family counseling
    • Assessment
    • Crisis stabilization
    • Client and family advocacy
    • Community liaison relationships
    • Case management
    • Covered services
    • Content related to the specific team they supervise.
  • Supervise team members in areas including:
    • Compliance
    • Assessment
    • Evaluation
    • Child and Family Team Model (CFT)
    • Adult Recovery Team Model (ART)
    • Other Pathways of Arizona clinical services
  • Ensure provision of accessible, high quality, cost effective behavioral health services which meet the needs of those served by the agency
  • Provide clinical oversight, develop and coordinate the work of all designated components and specialized projects 
  • Investigate and mediate challenges and/or concerns between staff and referring agents 
  • Manage, educate and supervise staff concerning community resources, funding updates and delivery of Best Practice quality care to clients and families 
  • Perform specialized tasks, i.e., program development, creation and delivery of reports on such areas as productivity, trending, goals and objectives, and quality management which exemplifies his/her specialized training and/or experience. 
  • Participate in all assigned management, supervisory, staff and team meetings 
  • Attend in-service trainings and staff development activities as scheduled and coordinate programs 
  • Follow and enforce policies, procedure and practices in keeping with Pathways and community standards and contract and licensure requirements 
  • Develop a working relationship with out of home service providers, such as psychiatric hospitals and as a liaison between providers and clinical staff.  She/he will collaborate with the Utilization Management/Quality Management Department to meet contract and/or payor deadlines
  • May develop program budget, participate in committees, special projects and will do other duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned and are necessary to support program and agency functions

 

 

 

 

 

 

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION 

 

Given:

  • Provides supervision to Clinical program staff based on program guidelines and using tools/resources to engage staff.

 

Received: 

  • Works under the general supervision of Clinical Manager.
  • Participates in monthly supervision with Clinical Manager and/or Director
  • Works closely with all clinical leaders to address issues and build the program as needed.

 

education, Certifications and license requirements 

 

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education or related field required; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years’ experience in the above
  • Supervisory experience required

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must have current fingerprint clearance (and maintain during employment) and be able to pass the background check. 
  • Proof of: current TB test, CPR/FA and a valid Arizona driver’s license as well as proof of education are required.
  • Prior behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Bilingual-Spanish/English a plus
  • If licensed, license must be maintained throughout employment

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND Abilities 

 

  • Knowledge and management expertise as demonstrated by the skills necessary to adhere to applicable standards and regulations
  • Effective organizational skills including time management, the ability to think clearly and logically; to problem solve effectively; and the ability to function with minimal supervision
  • Ability to track staff performance metrics and utilize a person-centered approach to holding staff to performance objectives
  • Ability to advocate and articulate the client’s current psychiatric needs to medical and clinical staff, as well as hospital step down agencies
  • Ability to conduct assessments, crisis intervention, individual and family services 
  • Knowledge of RBHA and funding structure, multiple behavioral health levels of care
  • Knowledge of Best Practices and ability to coach Best Practices models
  • Knowledge and ability to use DSM-IV & V TR to access and document an accurate diagnosis
  • Knowledge of basic child/adolescent development, crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to work with diverse population
  • Ability to participate/facilitate collaborative, client focused meetings, and complete necessary documentation needed to coordinate services
  • Ability to provide therapeutic services and carry a caseload as needed
  • Ability to learn and utilize technology resources including Avatar and other such systems
  • Demonstrated ability to train and supervise others
  • Detail oriented in documentation and communication; timely completion of mandated paperwork
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as ability to collaborate with teams
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism regarding demeanor, language, communication, and boundaries with co-workers and clients
  • Ability to hold others accountable
  • Effective, respectful, and professional written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), adequate typing skills, and basic computer skills
  • Knowledge and use of phone, copier, and other office equipment.  

 

 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • General office environment (locations may vary)
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. 
  • May be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25.
  • Requires significant use of computer, tablet, phone and/or general office equipment.
  • Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects.
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
  • May require off-site travel for meeting, county and/or client needs.
  • Ability to operate and have access to a safe and reliable vehicle at all times. Willing and able to drive in various road and weather conditions. Will use personal car or vehicle as required for travel and/or transportation. May transport clients as needed.
