Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques to maintain patient safety.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavioral health protocols.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to deliver comprehensive patient care in diverse environments such as medical-surgical units, ICU, emergency departments, or long-term care facilities.
- Assist with clinical procedures like phlebotomy or catheter care when trained and certified.
- Maintain a safe environment by following infection control protocols and safe lifting practices during patient transfers or heavy lifting tasks.
- Support patients with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs by delivering compassionate caregiving tailored to individual requirements.
Requirements
- Valid CNA certification with current licensure in the state of employment.
- Experience working in healthcare settings such as hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers), nursing homes, or assisted living communities.
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology concepts, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to perform CPR and basic life support (BLS), with additional certifications preferred.
- Prior experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely using proper manual handling techniques; physically capable of supporting patients during transfers or mobility assistance.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support patients’ emotional needs.
