CHS Girls' Head Basketball Coach
Reports to:Principal / Athletic Director
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must pass fingerprinting/background check that meets required state, federal and Clarkston School District standards
- Must hold a current and valid First Aid and CPR card, OR be able to obtain them prior to working with athletes
- Must be at least 19 years of age for Assistant Coaching Positions and at least 21 years of age for Head Coaching Positions pursuant to WIAA regulations
- Must complete WIAA required training
- Must complete onboarding paperwork and SafeSchools training prior to working with athletes
- Be available for all practices and competitions from 3 p.m. daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required
- Prior coaching experience preferred
General Functions:
- Supports the High School in all of its athletic programs and demonstrates commitment to strengthen relations within the educational system, as well as the coaching profession
- Demonstrates loyalty and supports the head coach in conducting the athletic program of that particular sport
- Knowledgeable and aware of rules and regulations concerning his/her sport
- Holds a current first aid and CPR card
- Keeps current on all clock hours depending on coaching level
- Exemplifies good sportsmanship
Essential Functions:
- Supervises and instructs students in the fundamentals of the sport he/she is coaching
- Maintains facilities and equipment
- Supervises team players at practice, games, in locker room and during travel
- Promotes sportsmanship and fair play among all teams and players by always setting a good example for participants and fans to follow, instructs participants in proper sportsmanship responsibilities, makes sportsmanship a high priority, respects the judgement of contest officials, abides by rules of the event
