- Administer WIDA screener and WIDA Access language assessments and analyze results to determine eligibility and services
- Teach basic survival English skills to the most limited English proficient students to understand and use basic vocabulary and phrases in common situations.
- Share with general education staff the culture and language of Multilingual learners
- Collaborate with staff to develop the ELD curriculum
- Provide professional learning on English language instruction and cultural awareness
- Communicate regularly with the general education teacher regarding academic successes and challenges of students
- Examine data surrounding multilingual learners to aid in collaboration and communication in decision-making processes
- Ensure that any information sent home is understandable for families to consume

Responsibilities:
The ELD teacher has primary responsibility for providing English language instruction to multilingual learners. The ELD teacher also shares the responsibility with the mainstream general education teachers to ensure that multilingual students receive content instruction, while learning English. The ELD teacher supports classroom instruction through collaboration and co-teaching with the general education teacher. The teacher helps the students comprehend the content using current strategies and supports.
