JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced Cognos Developer to design, develop, and optimize enterprise reporting solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics, data modeling, dashboard creation, and performance tuning. This role requires working closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and project managers to deliver high-quality BI solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Cognos Reports, Dashboards, Active Reports, and visualizations.
Create and enhance Framework Manager models, data packages, and metadata layers.
Optimize queries, troubleshoot performance issues, and ensure high-quality report delivery.
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into BI solutions.
Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure data availability, accuracy, and consistency.
Develop reusable components, templates, and standards for Cognos reporting.
Perform testing, validation, and deployment of reports in various environments.
Provide production support, defect resolution, and ongoing enhancements for reporting applications.
Document technical designs, workflows, and release notes.

Required Skills & Experience

6 12 years of hands-on experience in IBM Cognos Analytics (10.x / 11.x).
Strong experience in:

Report Studio
Dashboard creation
Framework Manager
Transformer Models (optional but good to have)

Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
Experience with ETL processes, data modeling, and BI best practices.
Understanding of data warehousing concepts (star schema, snowflake, facts & dimensions).
Ability to analyze business requirements and convert them into technical reporting solutions.
Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and stakeholder-interaction skills.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

Experience with Cognos Administration, security, and environment setup.
Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or other BI tools.
Experience working in financial services or banking environments.
Knowledge of Python or shell scripting for automation.
