Job Summary

The Stringless Paving Technician will support slipform paving operations utilizing advanced GPS machine control systems. This role is responsible for the setup, calibration, operation, and troubleshooting of stringless paving technology to ensure precise grade, alignment, and quality during concrete paving operations.

The Stringless Paving Technician plays a critical role in achieving production efficiency, specification compliance, and overall project success on roadway, bridge, and paving projects.

Key Responsibilities

Stringless System Setup & Operation

• Set up and operate stringless paving systems, including Leica, Trimble, and Topcon platforms
• Establish and maintain GPS base stations and robotic total stations
• Perform system calibrations and verification prior to paving operations
• Upload, manage, and validate digital paving models
  
  

Grade & Alignment Control

• Monitor real-time paving alignment and grade during slipform operations
• Verify tolerances meet project specifications and agency requirements
• Perform quality checks and make adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy
  
  

Technical Troubleshooting & Maintenance

• Diagnose and resolve machine control system issues in the field
• Maintain and protect GPS equipment, cables, sensors, and related hardware
• Coordinate with survey teams to ensure accurate control points and model integrity
  
  

Field Coordination

• Work closely with the Paving Superintendent, Project Engineer, and field crews
• Communicate technical issues and adjustments clearly to operators
• Support production goals while maintaining strict quality standards
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience with stringless paving systems or GPS machine control technology preferred
• Concrete slipform paving experience strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, profiles, and cross-sections
• Experience working with 3D digital models and machine control files
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and travel as project needs require
