Position Summary:
The Food Service Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day cafeteria and meal service operations at an assigned Clarksdale Collegiate campus. This role ensures that all meals meet USDA standards, supports a safe and efficient food service environment, and provides leadership to cafeteria staff to ensure smooth and positive meal experiences for scholars.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Supervision
- Oversee daily food preparation, service, and meal presentation.
- Ensure all meals meet USDA meal pattern requirements and nutritional standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory and place food and supply orders as needed.
- Coordinate deliveries and monitor proper storage of all food items.
Staff Leadership
- Supervise, schedule, and support cafeteria team members.
- Provide ongoing on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Ensure all staff follow HACCP protocols and food safety procedures.
- Promote a positive, collaborative team culture focused on scholar service.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain required documentation, including production records, temperature logs, and meal count records.
- Ensure accurate reporting for reimbursement claims.
- Support preparation for Administrative Review, including documentation organization and corrective action follow-through.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Enforce HACCP, sanitation, and allergy-safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe kitchen environment.
- Oversee the safe operation, cleaning, and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
Customer Service & Communication
- Foster a welcoming, scholar-centered cafeteria environment.
- Communicate menu updates, substitutions, shortages, and changes to appropriate school staff.
- Work collaboratively with school leadership and the Operations Team to support meal service needs and special events.
Required Qualifications (USDA Professional Standards)
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in food service, school nutrition, or related field preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to lead and support a diverse team.
Required Training
- Must complete 10 hours of USDA-compliant annual professional development related to Child Nutrition Programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServSafe Manager Certification.
- Experience working in K-12 school nutrition or supervisory roles.
- Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Program requirements.
