The A&W Shift Leader is responsible for leading restaurant operations during assigned shifts by ensuring exceptional guest service, food quality, cleanliness, and operational efficiency. This position supervises team members, supports training efforts, maintains food safety standards, and helps achieve sales and profitability goals while creating a positive work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead daily restaurant operations during assigned shifts.

Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly.

Assign work responsibilities and provide directions to team members throughout the shift.

Ensure food is prepared according to A&W recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.

Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.

Monitor product quality, freshness, and proper holding times.

Open and close the restaurant following company procedures.

Complete cash handling responsibilities, including register balancing, deposits, and accurate recordkeeping.

Monitor labor usage and staffing levels to meet operational needs.

Train, coach, and motivate crew members to improve performance and guest satisfaction.

Ensure dining room, kitchen, restrooms, and exterior areas remain clean, organized, and welcoming.

Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management.

Assist with receiving and properly storing deliveries.

Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and workplace standards.

Support restaurant managers in achieving sales, labor, food cost, and customer satisfaction goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous restaurant or food service experience required.

Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.

Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
