What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Small Vehicle Drivers position at Clarke Community School District?
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to work with children.
2. Have good character and emotional stability that includes patience, considerateness, even temperament and calmness under stress.
3. Current CDL license with proper endorsements including: Air Brake (Class A or B CDL); passenger (P) and school bus (S), or class D with endorsement 3, or willing to obtain.
4. An acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
5. Acceptable background check.
6. A good work record.
7. Previous bus driver or related experience preferred.
8. Negative results on pre-employment drug test.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director
SUPERVISES: Students on the bus/school vehicle.
POSITION GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year established by the Board of Education. Pay rate and other benefits as per the negotiated contract.
EVALUATION: Evaluation procedure shall follow Clarke Community School District board policy 411.7.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates the school bus and other school vehicles in a safe and orderly manner in accordance with all State and Federal regulations and school board policies.
- Conducts pre-trip inspections on the vehicle and its special equipment.
- Reports problems to transportation director.
- Drives the bus route on the established schedule, picking up or letting off students at appropriate points and displays a positive attitude toward the students.
- Completes all reports as required.
- Conducts appropriate safety drills with students.
- Effectively assist students in evacuating in an emergency.
- Operate two-way radios.
- Obeys all traffic laws.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Cleans assigned bus on a regular schedule or as needed to include the exterior of the bus to facilitate proper visibility.
- Has good working relationship with all other persons.
- Attends to other such duties as may be assigned by the Transportation Director.
- Perform random mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
