District Custodian

Qualifications:               

1.   Hold at least a high school diploma or equivalent 

2.   Previous work experience preferred

3.   Be able to lift at least 70 pounds

4.   Have an excellent work ethic, ability to work well with others

5.   Physically able to climb ladders, bend and/or squat, or crawl into awkward or high spaces 

Reports To:                   District Maintenance Technician and/or Director of Operations

Position Goal:              To maintain the district facilities in a condition of safety, neatness, and aesthetic attractiveness so that full educational use can be made of them.  

Supervises:                    No one         

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Keeps buildings and grounds neat and clean on a regular schedule, and at other times as necessary.

2. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

3. Considerable knowledge of facilities and cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.

4. Takes direction from District Maintenance Technician and/or Director of Operations.

5. Assists as required when assigned to evening activities. 

6. Ensure district facilities are cleaned and maintained. 

7. Performs building checks as assigned including weekends and holidays by the District Maintenance Technician and/or Director of Operations.

8. Maintains district facilities on weekends as needed, per activity schedules and assigned by the District Maintenance Technician and/or Director of Operations.

9. Performs grounds work such as tree trimming, landscaping, weed pulling and weed eating as necessary, to maintain the district grounds in a safe and attractive condition.

10. Reports immediately to the building principal and Maintenance Technician any damages to district buildings and/or grounds.

11. Performs minor repairs in heating, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance with direction from District Maintenance Technician and/or Director of Operations.

12. Moves equipment and supplies within the buildings, and on the grounds, as required by various activities as directed.

13. Assure ALL District entrance doors, exits and sidewalks are clear of snow and ice at all times.

14. Performs all duties on a daily checklist as assigned by the District Maintenance Technician and/or Director of Operations. 

15. Knowledge of how to safely use, post notice, and dispose of chemicals.

16. Follows and embodies the district's missions, vision, and belief statements.

17. Maintains and reports inventory of all custodial supplies needed, in a timely manner to the District Maintenance Technician and/or Director of Operations.

18. Other duties as assigned by the District Maintenance Technician and/or Director of Operations to meet the needs of the district.

Terms of Employment:           Work year established by the Board of Education. Pay rate as per the negotiated contract and other benefits.  260-day contract at 8 hours of work per day, shift and schedule to be determined by the District Maintenance Technician and/or Director of Operations.
