What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS/CAD Technician position at Clark Public Utilities?
This full-time position reports to the GIS/Joint Use Manager and is located at the Operations Center.
What You Would Do
Degree, certification or formal training in GIS related field required. Work experience editing with ESRI’s ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro. AutoCAD drafting experience or training is a plus. Knowledge, work experience or background in the electric utility is preferred. Successful candidates must be able to communicate complicated technical information effectively with internal and external stakeholders and have a strong team focus and ability to work collaboratively to achieve common goals. Must have the ability to work effectively in a self-directed environment.

Salary
Clark Public Utilities’ salary ranges are market based and established annually. With full competency
in the role and satisfactory performance the target is midpoint within the established range.

What You Would Do
- Update electric facilities and incorporate as-built prints within the utility’s GIS
- Produce and update system maps, feeder maps, one-lines, construction drawings and detail drawings for the electric utility.
- Work with engineers and planners to develop CAD drawings from rough sketches or verbal instructions and convert CAD drawings from outside agencies for utility use.
- Interpret engineering type technical drawings, schematics and
- Field check utility’s GIS maps for
- Ability to perform or learn complex programming in GIS and
- Work with other departments to identify and implement process improvements that use GIS and other asset data.
