Clark & Platt, Chtd is seeking a full-time legal assistant/paralegal to join our criminal defense firm. Must be proficient with word processing, detail oriented, have great customer service skills, and be extremely reliable. Previous legal experience is preferred.
The primary role is to provide administrative and legal support, managing office correspondence, including answering phone calls and emails, arranging meetings, and ensuring our legal team is aware of upcoming deadlines. You will also assist with preparing legal documents and contracts, and perform any other tasks as needed to ensure our firm is operating efficiently. Job Duties and Responsibilities — including, but not limited to:
* Communicate with clients via email and telephone
* Manage a range of confidential records, processes, and documents throughout legal proceedings
* Coordinating logistics, scheduling, and document preparation for court proceedings and meetings
* Entering daily time sheets to account for billable hours and submitting monthly billing
* Drafting, proofreading, and editing motions and various legal documents
* Communicate with clients and court administrators
* Manage a database of current and past clients
* Open and close files in accordance with office policies
* Accurately file documents with the courts
* Schedule appointments for attorneys and clients
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervising attorneys

* Dependable and highly professional with the prioritization skills necessary to handle an abundant volume of assignments

Education and/or experience
* High school diploma (required)
* Administrative and customer service experience (required)
* Previous legal assistance or paralegal experience is not necessarily required, but highly recommended
Schedule
* 37.5 hour workweek; Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00, closed over the noon hour for lunch
* Closed all major federal and court holidays to include: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve
