Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Assist orthodontist/dentists chairside during various procedures, orthodontic, and pediatric dentistry
- Take dental radiographs (X-ray images) while maintaining patient safety and adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Manage medical documentation, including updating electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Carestream/Softdent
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions
- Support administrative tasks like scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control procedures
- Familiarity with Carstream/Softdent
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, orthodontic and pediatric dentistry practices
- Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and aseptic procedures
- Knowledge of dental specialties such as orthodontics, and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics
