The Clark County Social Services Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Social Worker I/II position. As a member of our team, you will conduct casework interviews with clients and their family members to obtain information for formulating program/service eligibility and case status. You will identify social, economic, and physical needs of clients; assess client's support systems, available community resources and other factors to plan, develop, and implement an appropriate service plan. In this position, you will also refer clients to appropriate agencies and resources, and advocate for or assist the client in obtaining such services. You will provide basic intervention, and client and family counseling, as needed. This role requires preparation of complete and accurate case notes and other written correspondence, such as reports, statistics, and summaries.

Clinical & Community Services

The Clark County Clinical & Community Services Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Social Worker I/II position. This position works primarily with adults in the community who are in need of care coordination, especially following a mental health crisis. Clients may be self-referred or referred by Metro or UMC’s Crisis Stabilization center. Visits can occur in the office, via phone, or in the field, including home visits with or without Metro detectives from the LVMPD Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). In this role, the Social Worker I/II conducts home visits, responds to crisis situations, assesses client needs, utilizes brief intervention skills, makes referrals, completes case notes, corresponds with clients and community partners, and provides mental health/substance use service navigation. The goal of this position is to assist adults to navigate mental health and other care services to reduce the dependence on law enforcement and emergency rooms by connecting citizens to appropriate service providers and providing care coordination to ensure follow through. 

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Social Worker I: $31.20 - $46.05
Social Worker II: $33.65 - $49.74

The Social Worker I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Social Worker II.

Social Worker I - Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a field related to the work. An internship or fieldwork related to the profession is desirable or a field related to the work.

Social Worker II - In addition to the above, two (2) years of full-time professional level casework experience in a social service agency. Possession of an advanced degree in social work may be substituted for one of the years of experience outlined above.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment. Must possess a valid license as a Social Worker in the State of Nevada at time of application.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

• Identifies social, economic and physical needs of clients; assesses client's support systems, available community resources and other factors to plan, develop, and implement an appropriate service plan. 
• Utilizes agency guidelines, state, and federal regulations to determine/confirm eligibility for programs and services. 
• Refers clients to appropriate community medical, emotional, economic and social support organizations; advocates for or assists the client in obtaining such services. 
• Provides basic intervention and client and family counseling as required. 
• Prepares complete and accurate case notes; writes correspondence, reports and other written materials; may prepare statistical reports and summaries. 
• Explains agency and program rules, regulations and procedures; assists clients in completing required forms and in gathering necessary documentation. 
• Confers with other departmental professional and supervisors regarding cases and scheduling to coordinate activities; participates in in-service training. 
• Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. 
• Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of work. 
• Drives a personal or County motor vehicle to attend meetings and make site visits.
