About The Position
The Clark County Department of Environment & Sustainability is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Air Quality Monitoring Technician I/II position. This position will modify, repair, inspect, deploy, verify, maintain, and calibrate a variety of electronic, pneumatic, analytical, mechanical, meteorological, communications, and optical air quality monitoring equipment and data acquisition systems. This team member is responsible for taking samples and process data from the air quality monitoring network at various monitoring sites throughout Clark County. This role will also document all activities; prepare reports and records; and participate in projects and SOP development to ensure quality system operations that are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities will also include performing data review, verification, validation, and analysis. Team members will need to promote a positive image of Air Quality to the customer base and the public.
Air Quality Monitoring Technician I: $30.38-$44.84 Hourly
Air Quality Monitoring Technician II: $32.77-$48.43 Hourly
The Air Quality Monitoring TechnicianI is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Air Quality Monitoring Technician II.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience:
Air Quality Monitoring Tech I - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, electronics, meteorology, computer science, quality management, metrology or a related field. Job-related experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.
Air Quality Monitoring Tech II - In addition to the above: Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience comparable to that of an Air Quality Monitoring Technician I and completion of the Monitoring Technician training program. Experience in quality control and quality assurance programs is desirable.
All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Modify, repair, inspect, deploy, verify, maintain, and calibrate a variety of electronic optical, pneumatic, analytical, mechanical, meteorological, and communications air monitoring instruments in the field or shop; changes filters and other sampling mediums; performs basic and routine maintenance of monitoring equipment and monitoring sites.
- Performs on-site diagnosis of electronic equipment and repair any malfunctioning monitoring equipment.
- Performs zero precision and other checks of monitoring instruments; weighs and prepares particulate filter; prepares replacement sampling medium.
- Installs and maintains monitoring station shelter with environmental controls; records all maintenance and quality control and assurance procedures.
- Assembles towers at meteorological collection sites.
- Performs and documents calculations on certification transfer standards; computer data and product printouts, regression analysis, calibration graphs, pollution level graphs and other computer generated information.
- Develops computer files and records to assist in documenting calculations and quality activities.
- Reviews, refines, verifies, validates, corrects, and process air quality data and telecommunications information systems or other public data services.
- Reviews, summarizes, and maintains electronic and manual data, manually collect data and data records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and recordation guidelines.
- Assist the public with federal and local regulation compliance.
- Maintains accurate computer files and records of division activities, inspections, maintenance and repair; produces reports on assigned activities.
- Drives a county or personal vehicle to various locations throughout the county in order to conduct onsite inspections and equipment maintenance and repair and to attend meetings.
- Promotes the public image of the Department of Environment and Sustainability through exemplification of core values and professional interactions with organizations, small businesses, customers, and individuals.
- Recommends alternate equipment and procedures.

Salary : $30 - $45
