Job Description
The Estimator develops accurate, timely and detailed cost estimates on construction projects. The position is responsible for accurate quantity surveys, preparation of subcontractor and vendor work scopes and quote analysis, and estimating the cost of self-perform work. The Estimator will be a self-starter and work efficiently. They will be able to meet critical deadlines and can work as part of a team.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop, as part of a team, full-scope cost estimates based on proposal documentation on a variety of projects for various public and private clients
- Interpret and analyze project drawings and specifications, proposals, and other documentation
- Create accurate, detailed take-off of quantities from project drawings and specifications
- Setup and maintain the bid estimate file and associated items
- Manage comparisons: quantity comparison process, cost comparisons, and close out
- Assist in developing the initial project execution and logistics plans and the project schedule
- Identify, solicit, and analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals
- Complete peer review of takeoffs and cost estimates prepared by project staff
- Assist with the procurement of major materials and subcontracts on successful pursuits
- Perform forensic reporting at project conclusion
- Maintain historical database
- Participate in and support forecasting for all PLTs
- Perform research for means and methods, materials, equipment, costs, and construction techniques and services to increase competitiveness
- Bill all project-related hours worked to the appropriate project(s)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Hiring Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or similar technical training
- Minimum of five years of experience in estimating projects
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, and Procore
- Capable of managing an entire estimate of a project
- Ability to mentor and train project leadership teams
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to coordinate closely with engineers to produce quantity takeoffs for use in preparing estimates
- Proficient in understanding cost-based risk analysis
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Dependable
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Ability to understand, follow directions and meet critical deadlines
- Good time management and organizational skills

Additional Training/Certification
The following certifications are required for this position. If an employee does not have the certifications, they will be required to obtain them within 6 months of the date of hire or transfer into the position.

Compensation and Benefits
This is a part-time, hourly position. Pay is DOE. Clark Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Paid Time Off: You will accrue one (1) hour of paid time off (“PTO”) for every 40 hours worked. Your PTO is referenced in your bi-weekly paycheck. You are eligible to start using any accrued PTO after 90 days of employment.

401K: CCI has a 401K program to assist employees in saving for retirement. Employees are eligible to designate how much they would like to contribute to their 401K account starting their first day of work. CCI offers a 401k match program, matching up to 4% of the employee's annual pay.
Cell Stipend: You are eligible to receive a $500/year cell phone stipend, paid quarterly at the end of each quarter. You must be employed during the entire quarter to be eligible for that period.
