About the Role
Clark Construction is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Residential Drafter to join our Ridgefield, CT team. We need someone who can turn field information and design concepts into accurate, buildable plans for high-end renovations and additions. This role is central to our process – complete, accurate drawings are the foundation of our No Surprise Guarantee, and the drafter plays a critical role in making that promise possible.

This is a full-time, in-person position based in Ridgefield, CT. This is not a remote or hybrid role – it's built around close collaboration with our team, with regular time in the office and at project sites.
Responsibilities
- Produce construction documents (floor plans, elevations, sections, framing plans, and details) for remodeling projects, including as-builts and proposed designs
- Conduct field measurements and site visits to document existing conditions and verify dimensions
- Develop SketchUp models for design visualization, client presentations, and team coordination
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and field crews through multiple revision cycles
- Coordinate drawings with structural, mechanical, and design requirements
- Prepare permit-ready drawing sets compliant with Connecticut building codes and local zoning requirements
- Help solve real-world construction challenges as they arise
- Support the project team with revisions, field updates, and construction-phase questions
Qualifications
- 2 years of residential drafting experience (3–5 preferred), ideally in remodeling, additions, or renovations
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required
- Working knowledge of SketchUp
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, framing practices, and mechanical systems
- Ability to interpret and produce accurate, well-organized construction documents
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Familiarity with Fairfield County or Connecticut permit processes is a plus
