Project Manager / Estimator – Self Perform Group

We are seeking a Project Manager/Estimator to join our growing Self Perform Group in Southeast Michigan. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with senior management while leading self-perform construction projects from concept through closeout.
The ideal candidate is a seller/doer, a professional who can both win work and successfully deliver it. You’ll be responsible for preparing estimates, pursuing new opportunities, transitioning awarded projects to the field team, and managing all aspects of construction execution. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, client focus, and the drive to build lasting relationships while uncovering new business opportunities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager and/or Estimator on carpentry/general trades projects ranging from $10,000 to $10 million
- Recent experience in K-12, higher education, healthcare, local government, or tenant buildouts preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)
- OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
- Familiarity with Prolog, PlanGrid, Textura, and Edge software is a plus
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and oversee $5–10 million in annual revenue
- Seller/doer mindset with a demonstrated ability to cultivate client relationships and generate repeat business
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Business Development
- Pursue new project opportunities and RFPs
- Build and maintain strong client, architect/engineer, and subcontractor relationships
- Prepare detailed take-offs and estimates
- Develop subcontractor and vendor bid packages
- Compile and submit competitive proposals
- Transition awarded projects seamlessly into execution
Project Management
- Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules
- Administer purchase orders, subcontracts, and project documentation
- Coordinate material procurement and installation schedules
- Oversee construction activities and ensure reporting accuracy
- Manage financials, including budgets, billing, change orders, and reporting
- Enforce safety, quality control, and production tracking procedures
- Foster strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
