Qualified Accountant – Accounting & Tax
Location: Kildare (Hybrid)
Our Client
Our client is a well-established and highly regarded chartered accountancy practice with an excellent reputation for advising owner-managed businesses and SMEs. The firm has built a loyal client base and is known for its down-to-earth culture, collaborative working environment and exceptionally low staff turnover.
Due to continued growth, an opportunity has become available for a Qualified Accountant to join the firm's Accounting & Tax team. Working closely with experienced Senior Managers, this role offers broad client exposure, genuine responsibility and a clear pathway for career progression.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, sole traders and audit-exempt companies.
- Prepare and review annual financial statements.
- Prepare and review corporation tax and income tax returns.
- Take ownership of assignments from receipt of client information through to completion.
- Build strong relationships with clients and act as a key point of contact.
- Identify accounting, taxation and commercial issues while providing practical solutions.
- Assist Senior Managers with managing client portfolios and meeting filing deadlines.
- Review the work of trainees and part-qualified accountants, providing coaching and support where required.
- Help improve and standardise accounting processes across the practice.
- Assist with audit assignments where required.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working closely with SME clients, taking ownership of their own portfolio and becoming a trusted adviser to owner-managed businesses.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- ACA, ACCA, CPA or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Approximately 3–5 years' post-qualified experience within an Irish accountancy practice.
- Strong experience preparing financial statements for audit-exempt companies and owner-managed businesses.
- Good knowledge of Irish corporation tax and income tax compliance.
- Experience managing assignments and dealing directly with clients.
- The ability to supervise and support junior staff.
- Excellent communication, organisational and client relationship skills.
- Strong IT skills, including Excel and accounting/practice management software.
- A practical, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach.
Audit experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
