Clarity Dermatology is seeking an experienced Mohs histotechnician to join our growing team! The position is location in our Niwot office, on Wednesdays of each week. This role would be perfect for someone with Histotechnician experience interested in part-time hours on a weekly basis. I.
- Receiving, logging, and preparing tissue specimens for routine and special procedures and pathologist review.
- Ensuring tissue specimens are processed according to the laboratory's protocols and maintaining high standards of quality.
- Embedding processed tissue in paraffin, sectioning tissues using a microtome, and preparing slides for staining.
- Performing routine and special staining techniques to enhance visualization of tissue specimens for analysis.
- Ensuring that staining procedures comply with diagnostic requirements.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area, including the proper disposal of chemicals and biological waste.
- Regularly checking and maintaining histology laboratory equipment (e.g., microtomes, tissue processors, stainers) to ensure optimal functionality.
- Managing inventory of lab supplies such as chemicals, dyes, and slides, and reordering supplies before depletion to avoid any disruption in lab operations.
- Ensuring all lab equipment and supplies are used and stored according to safety standards.
- Participating in quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of histology slides.
- Following all laboratory safety guidelines and procedures, particularly in handling hazardous materials.
- Keeping up-to-date with advancements in histotechnology and participating in continuing education as required.
- Communicating any issues or abnormalities observed in specimen quality or equipment function to the appropriate personnel.
- Assisting in the documentation and record-keeping of laboratory processes and patient results
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
