Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Controls Analyst with a strong blend of accounting, cost management, and contract-administration experience. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working with numbers, reviewing contracts, managing invoices, and supporting multiple lines of business with clear communication and reliable follow-through. The position is primarily remote, with weekly onsite collaboration in Rocklin or Paradise.
Responsibilities
- Support project accounting activities including forecasting, accruals, budget tracking, and basic financial analysis to ensure accurate reporting and cost transparency.
- Review, interpret, and validate contract language, including scope descriptions, cost structures, change elements, and billing terms.
- Perform detailed invoice reviews: verify work performance dates, align billed values with contract-approved amounts, identify discrepancies, and communicate required corrections.
- Prepare invoices as needed with accurate cost details, coding, documentation, and supporting backup.
- Use Excel to build and maintain spreadsheets, apply formulas, perform reconciliations, and support data analysis for reporting.
- Enter and manage data across multiple project management, accounting, and reporting systems with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and multiple lines of business to resolve questions, validate cost information, and support operational workflows.
- Participate in weekly onsite meetings in Rocklin or Paradise and support occasional on-site work as required.
- Communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats and maintain a high level of professionalism, patience, and clarity when working with diverse stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience in Project Controls, Project Accounting, Accounting, or Finance
- Strong understanding of forecasting, accruals, cost tracking, and general numerical analysis
- Ability to review, interpret, and work with contracts (scope, rates, terms, performance dates)
- Skilled in invoice creation and invoice review, ensuring accurate billing aligned with contract values
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, basic spreadsheets, data organization)
- Comfort working across several software platforms with heavy data input
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with multiple lines of business
- Ability to work onsite 1x per week in Rocklin or Paradise
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting utility, construction, engineering, or field-operations projects
- Intermediate or advanced Excel skills
- Prior vendor-management or contract-administration experience
Salary Range
$90,000 – $130,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
