Star City Heating and Cooling has proudly served the Lincoln, Nebraska community for over 40 years, delivering trusted comfort and customer care. We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Residential HVAC Technician who enjoys working independently and values flexibility.

If you’re seeking a non-traditional schedule—whether that’s a 2-day, 3-day, or 4-day workweek—this is the perfect fit! The only fixed requirement is being available Saturdays and Sundays (8am–8pm). Beyond that, we’ll tailor the rest of your schedule around your life.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to prevent equipment failure by cleaning air handling systems and reheat coils, monitoring and calibrating air handling systems and replacing filters, motors, fans, belts, etc. on systems.
• Locate and diagnose problems, assess the extent of repairs, and describe options and associated costs to the customer. Provide a description of diagnosed problems to customers in terms that can be understood with options (to the extent possible).
• Assist with repairs of complete systems to include repairing, calibrating, or replacing controls, switches, thermostats, transformers, gauges, wiring fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, piping, and other functional components of the system.
• Complete all required documentation on services, explain guarantees/warranties and records.
• Install, repair, replace or clean refrigerant lines, fans, appliance vents, smoke detectors, humidifiers, and grills, as appropriate.
• Ensure all HVAC repairs and installations are accurate, serviceable and that materials used meet the requirements and safety standards/regulatory codes.
  
  

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in residential HVAC services
• A high school diploma or GED
• EPA Certificate
• Experience in Residential, Commercial, or Geothermal HVAC a plus
• Valid driver’s license and strong communications skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (ductwork, furnaces, materials)
