We are currently seeking a Superintendent for a Paper Machine Maintenance team for a global Consumer Packaging company for their one of their mills in Stevenson, Alabama which is about 45 minutes -1 hour from Chattanooga, TN and Huntsville, AL. This is an onsite position, supervising 3-4 supervisors and an assistant superintendent.

Job Functions
Leadership and Management:
- Provide overall leadership and direction to the maintenance team, including supervisors, technicians, and mechanics.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes teamwork, communication, and accountability.
- Develop and implement performance goals and objectives for the maintenance team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback to team members.
Maintenance Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Utilize reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles to optimize maintenance activities and reduce equipment downtime.
- Establish and manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and engineering, to align maintenance activities with production goals.
Maintenance Execution and Optimization:
- Oversee the execution of all maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, installations, and inspections.
- Ensure that maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track work orders, manage inventory, and generate reports.
- Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a strong safety culture within the maintenance team, ensuring that all employees adhere to safety procedures and protocols.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with environmental regulations and company policies.
Continuous Improvement:
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve equipment reliability.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and new technologies related to maintenance and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of Maintenance Management experience
OR
- High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Maintenance or Engineering Management experience
Additional Requirements
- 5 years of supervisory/management experience preferred.
- 10 years of Mechanical Maintenance experience in a Paper Mill.
- Labor Union experience a plus.
- Experience with and ability to work in a 24/7 operation with on-call rotations/responsibilities.
- Experience in one or more of the following industries: Paper.
- Ability to multi-task and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
