GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
As an Assistant Principal for Instruction, your primary responsibility is to support the overall educational mission of the school by focusing on instructional leadership.The Assistant Principal for Instruction collaborates with the Principal, teaching staff, and other administrators to ensure high-quality teaching and learning experiences for all students. This role focuses on instructional leadership, curriculum development, teacher support, and assessment to foster a culture of academic excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Leadership:
- Provide visionary leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs aligned with the school's mission, vision, and goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting best practices in teaching and learning.
- Lead professional development initiatives to enhance instructional effectiveness and teacher capacity.
- Collaborate with teachers to analyze student data and identify instructional strategies to address diverse learning needs.
Curriculum Development and Alignment:
- Work with curriculum committees and department heads to develop and refine curriculum maps, scope, sequence documents, etc.
- Ensure alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with state standards, district expectations, and instructional goals.
- Monitor curriculum implementation and provide support to teachers in effectively delivering content and instruction.
Teacher Support and Evaluation:
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers to improve instructional practices.
- Collaborate with teachers to set professional growth goals and develop individualized professional development plans.
- Utilize district and state evaluation tools and programs for educator evaluations and upload documentation in SC Lead as required.
- Support new teachers through mentoring, coaching, and orientation programs.
Assessment and Data Analysis:
- Oversee the administration and analysis of standardized assessments and other formative assessments.
- Use data to identify trends, monitor student progress, and make data-driven decisions to improve instruction and student achievement.
- Support teachers in utilizing assessment data to inform instructional planning and differentiate instruction.
School Culture and Community Engagement:
- Promote a positive school culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Foster strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and the broader community to support student success.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
Other Duties As Assigned by Direct Supervisor
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education or related field required
- Valid SC administrative licensure.
- Previous teaching experience with a demonstrated track record of instructional leadership.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth.
