Position Description
Clarendon is currently seeking outstanding candidates for the Associate/Sr. Associate role for an immediate to early 2026 start in Tysons, VA. This candidate will be an integral component of our deal team, that will thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and high performance culture.
This position requires broad participation across virtually all aspects of the private equity investment lifecycle for middle market portfolio companies in the transportation, logistics, supply chain and distribution market space. The investment professional will be self-motivated and independent, but will also perform his or her role in collaboration with, and as an integral part of, the Clarendon investment team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare investment committee meeting materials, developing and communicating investment theses to senior team members, and conducting detailed valuation analyses to support and inform LOI submission
- Owning analyses on new investment opportunities (i.e., investment memos, financial models, returns analyses, market, and company diligence) with relevant oversight
- Managing due diligence processes, including coordinating with third parties (e.g. advisors, attorneys, management teams, etc. ) and drafting committee materials
- Developing a deep understanding of our portfolio companies and how their performance and outlook are evolving over time
- Supporting the financial, operational, and M&A needs of portfolio company management teams in execution of investment theses
- Managing lender relationships to address debt-financing alternatives
- Support fundraising efforts through building relationships with existing and potential investors, responding to questions, and other requests as needed
- Create and maintain deal pipeline database, assisting in the identification and evaluation of potential investment opportunities
Experience & Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree with a strong academic record
- 2-5 years of investment banking, private equity, corporate development or consulting experience
- Willingness to be located in the Washington, D.C. metro area
- Past experience and/or interest working with one or more: transportation, logistics, supply chain, distribution and industrials sectors
- Ability to travel approximately 10-25%, on average
Valuable Qualifications
- Advanced degree or specialization in finance, accounting, or business (e.g., MBA, CPA, GSRE, CFA)
- Proficiency with data analytics tools (PowerBI, SQL, Python, Tableau)
Skills & Characteristics
- Exceptional financial modeling, written and analytical skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to synthesize thoughts about companies and markets succinctly
- Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and capital structure
- Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with data analytics tools (PowerBI, SQL, Python, Tableau)
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a persistent pursuit of excellence
- Self starter with the ability to operate with limited supervision and a strong sense of ownership
- High energy, carries and conveys a healthy sense of urgency
