Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using tools like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor vital signs and observe changes in patient conditions, accurately documenting findings in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper dosage and adherence to safety protocols including aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, or post-acute settings to deliver comprehensive patient care aligned with medical terminology and physiology knowledge.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards to protect patient privacy and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
- Assist with procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy, and infection control practices necessary for safe patient handling in hospital or outpatient environments.
Requirements
- Valid CNA certification or equivalent state licensure; prior experience as a caregiver or nursing assistant is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospitals (Level I Trauma Center, Level II Trauma Center), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for medical documentation and patient records management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification to support patient service activities effectively.
- Experience caring for individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or those requiring specialized dementia/memory care is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting patients using Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices while maintaining aseptic technique.
