The Acupuncturist possesses a thorough knowledge of Chinese Medicine modalities (acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, etc.), and is able to communicate those concepts to the patients. They must have excellent communication skills and be able to learn the service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet the needs of our patients.
•Greets patients upon arrival.
•Provides therapy in accordance with physician request.
•Educates patients regarding their condition and treatments.
•Assists patients with basicexercises.
•Ensures proper maintenance of supplies and equipment required for treatment.
•Addresses patient’s problems/concerns as may arise.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Can demonstrate understanding of the principles of human anatomy and physiology.

Can identify the standard techniques used in a physical integration program to stimulate blood circulation, relax contracted muscles, facilitate elimination of waste matter, or to relieve other common muscular function/flexibility conditions.

Can demonstrate proper techniques used to apply alcohol, lubricants, or other rubbing compounds to various sections of the body.

Can demonstrate proper techniques used to administer steam, dry heat, or treatments.

Can demonstrate proper techniques used to increase circulation in a specific area of the body using massage and/or applying heat packs.

Can identify proper procedures involved in preparing a client for examination, including treatment room set-up.

Can instruct client to demonstrate arm and leg movement and flexion of the spine, and can observe and evaluate client against established program norms.

Can demonstrate ability to plan objectives of a program, determine program activities or treatments, and discuss goals of the program with a patient.

Can demonstrate understanding of, and can instruct, motivate, and assist a client in various stress management techniques, such as deep breathing and concentration activities.

Can demonstrate proper techniques for recording client treatment, response, and progress data.

Can demonstrate ability to inventory and order supplies and equipment.

Can demonstrate ability to clean and maintain a work area in an orderly fashion.

Can demonstrate ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
Qualifications

Must have acupuncture diploma or credential

Must be able to give an effective presentation as it relates to acupuncture and TCM.

Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.

Excellent communication and listening skills, as well as basic computer knowledge.

Must be a team player.

United States acupuncturists must hold a current valid state license and/or be certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
