Position Overview
Clancy Construction is seeking a motivated Architectural Designer / Residential Drafter to join our growing in-house design team. This position focuses on developing high-quality residential construction plans for custom homes, renovations, additions, and remodeling projects throughout Cape Cod.
The ideal candidate is passionate about residential architecture, enjoys solving design and construction challenges, and has strong technical drafting skills. This individual will work closely with our architectural designers, project managers, construction team, consultants, and homeowners to develop complete drawing packages from initial concepts through construction.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop complete construction drawing packages for custom homes, additions, renovations, and remodeling projects.
- Produce accurate Revit models and detailed construction documents, including floor plans, elevations, sections, wall details, framing details, and construction assemblies.
- Assist in preparing existing conditions drawings, schematic design, design development, and permit/construction documents.
- Revise drawings throughout the design and construction process as project conditions evolve.
- Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil consultants.
- Visit project sites to document existing conditions, verify field dimensions, and assist with construction coordination.
- Work closely with project managers and field personnel to resolve design questions and incorporate field revisions.
- Ensure drawing sets are complete, coordinated, and suitable for permitting and construction.
- Assist in researching building materials, construction methods, and applicable building codes.
- Participate in internal design meetings and collaborate with homeowners to refine project concepts when required.
- Maintain organized project files and drawing revisions throughout each phase of the project.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
Qualifications
- Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Building Design, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Bachelor's in Architecture (B.Arch., B.S. Architecture, M.Arch.) or equivalent professional experience is highly desirable.
- Minimum of two years of experience preparing residential construction drawings.
- Strong proficiency in Revit is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software is a plus.
- Thorough understanding of residential construction methods and detailing.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts residential building codes is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
