Clallam County is seeking a skilled and motivated professional to serve as a WIC Support Specialist I. In this role, you will support the WIC program by entering client information into the WIC Cascades system, managing medical documentation, and ensuring compliance with program guidelines. You'll determine client eligibility, issue benefits, and provide educational services. Additionally, you'll track inventory, maintain accurate records, and contribute to team efficiency. You'll also assist with issuing Farmer’s Market benefits and educating clients about these benefits during the summer months. NOTE: This is a 32-hour a week position and is located in Forks, WA.
- Utilizing WIC Cascades program for entering clients.
- Input medical documentation forms into Cascades program.
- Distributes supplies and equipment; tracks inventory; ensures maintenance of needed supplies.
- Determines eligibility for services using guidelines provided by State WIC program.
- Creates and maintains files; maintains accurate logs and compiles records of work performed; prepares regular and special reports as required.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, and department laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the division's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Issues WIC benefits on WIC EBT cards, which allows the participant, Parents/caretakers, or proxies to purchase food package from an authorized WIC vendor.
- Provides department client education services.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, and department laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the division's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Determine immunization status.
- Farmer’s Market benefits issuance and education from June to September every year.
- Duties as assigned.
Requires knowledge of the field of assignment sufficient to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility as illustrated by examples in the above job description.
Education/Training
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Customer Service: Strong customer service skills are important for interacting with WIC participants.
Proficiency in data entry and record-keeping.
Strong time management skills are required.
Experience
One year of experience providing direct services to individuals and families; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience determined by the Director.
