Job description
We are hiring a Test Operations Technician who will report to the Site Director. You will be responsible for operations of Project Juniper, the first integrated direct air capture and ex-situ mineralization system in the world! You will operate mechanical and electrical systems, including heavy machinery to capture atmospheric CO2, regenerate sorbent in an oven, and then mineralize that CO2 in an engineered reactor. You will work closely with the design engineers to improve and develop SOPs, and you will be able to provide feedback on operational challenges to improve current and future systems.

Responsibilities
- Operate direct air capture systems for atmospheric CO2.
- Operate heavy machinery to control mineralization of CO2 into carbonated materials.
- Provide feedback on, and develop new, SOPs for existing and novel equipment.
- Troubleshoot systems operations and perform maintenance tasks to improve performance.
- Execution of tests and data collection for materials and systems characterization.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- 3 years of experience working with and troubleshooting mechanical systems, fluid/pneumatic systems, or heavy equipment.
- 3 years of experience using power tools, hand tools, and calibrated tooling.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Associate degree in an engineering, technical, or mechanical field.
- Hands-on experience with thermo-fluid components, including valves, pumps, heat exchangers, instrumentation, electromechanical components and more.
- Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) certification or training.
- Basic computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and photo generation/compilation.
- Experience with crane and lift operations.
- Experience working on technically complex systems with experience from comparable industries like aerospace, automotive, or chemical engineering.
- Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in writing) between other employees.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed (< 20% travel).
- The ability to lift heavy objects is required in this position (up to 50lbs unassisted).
- Must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed based on site priority; flexibility required.
