The Senior CNC Programmer is a key technical leader within the manufacturing organization, responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs that support complex fabricated components. This role partners closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to drive precision, efficiency, and continuous improvement across machining operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis routers and machining centers
- Interpret complex drawings and 3D models to define efficient machining strategies
- Establish machining standards including tooling, workholding, feeds/speeds, and process flow
- Serve as the primary technical resource for CNC programming and machining-related issues
- Troubleshoot program errors, machine performance, and dimensional inconsistencies
- Partner with Engineering to review designs and provide manufacturability recommendations
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time, quality, and machine utilization
- Create and maintain documentation including setup sheets, tooling lists, and programming standards
- Collaborate with shop floor teams to validate programs and ensure safe, accurate execution
- Participate in evaluation and implementation of new equipment and software
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, SOPs, and quality standards
Qualifications:
- 5–7 years of experience programming and setting up 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines
- Advanced proficiency in CAD/CAM software (SigmaNest, SurfCam, SolidWorks)
- Strong expertise in machining optimization, tooling strategy, and fixture design
- Ability to interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and tight tolerance requirements
- Proven ability to troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions
- Experience with CMM programming or operation is a plus
- Technical degree, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to lead technical discussions and mentor machinists or junior programmers
- Effective communicator who can collaborate cross-functionally
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required

- Ability to sit for extended periods and work in both office and manufacturing environments
- Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures on the shop floor
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed
- Required use of PPE when in manufacturing areas
- Travel up to 50% as needed
