What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor/Assistant Professor of Mass Communications (54975) position at CLAFLIN UNIVERSITY?
The Instructor/Assistant. Professor of Mass Communications with expertise in Public Relations will report to the Chair of the Mass Communications Department. He/she will teach skills courses in the basics of public relations, PR writing, PR management and campaigns, social media applications, and data analytics. Ability to integrate new technologies and or AI into existing Mass Communication courses and the ability to develop courses in Promotions, Social Influence and Political, Sports and Environmental Communications. Additional teaching responsibilities may include other courses within the candidate’s areas of expertise such as digital media, public relations strategy, and campaigns. Candidate will serve as advisor for the PRSSA chapter and lead the public relations concentration. One is expected to participate fully in departmental recruitment activities, promoting the department within the state and nationally, committee service, grantsmanship and research obligations consistent with all faculty
Qualifications:
A master's degree in communications related to Public Relations or a related field is required. A completed doctorate is required for a tenure track appointment and the rank of Assistant Professor. ABD will be considered. Experience with multimedia journalism and or strategic communication tools. Experience with innovation teaching strategies and curriculum development. Professional experience in journalism or public relations. University level teaching experience in journalism or public relations. Candidates should possess APR certification. Evidence of scholarly journalism or public relations research and potential for continued productivity. Experience working with diverse student populations and commitment to diversity and inclusion. Active involvement in relevant professional organizations (e.g. AEJMC, PRSA, NABJ)
SALARY: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
