Role Description The Associate Director of Financial Aid is a full-time, on-site role based in Orangeburg, SC. This position supports the strategic management and daily operations of the Financial Aid Office, including the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid programs. The role involves overseeing financial aid processing, monitoring compliance with regulations, evaluating student eligibility, and ensuring timely and accurate awarding and disbursement of funds. The Associate Director supervises financial aid staff, coordinates with admissions and enrollment teams, and provides guidance to students and families on financing options, policies, and deadlines. The position also contributes to data reporting, budget planning, process improvement, and outreach activities to support enrollment and student success goals.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Financial Aid Administration skills, including knowledge of federal, state, and institutional aid regulations and systems.
  • Candidates should possess experience in Enrollment Management, supporting recruitment, retention, and overall student success initiatives.
  • Candidates should possess proven Supervisory Skills, including staff coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Candidates should possess foundational Finance skills, such as budgeting, reconciliation, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service skills for assisting students, families, and campus partners with clarity and empathy.
  • Additional qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a related field, strong analytical and organizational abilities, proficiency with financial aid and student information systems, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in higher education, particularly at institutions serving diverse and historically underrepresented student populations, is highly beneficial.
