What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President Finance position at Claddagh Resources?
VP of Finance & Administration
Frisco, TX (On-site)
THE BUSINESS
A private equity–backed manufacturer in wood products and building materials, operating sawmills, kilns, concentration yards, and distribution facilities across 20 decentralized sites with global export. Raw material in, graded product out, with long conversion and drying cycles that make inventory and working capital a live daily question.
THE ROLE
This is not an accounting seat. A strong leader already owns the accounting function and will continue to. This role owns treasury, margin, forecasting, and administration, reporting directly to the CEO.
You will lead roughly 45 people: 5–6 direct reports and 15–20 in the next layer. There is an earned path to CFO for the person who proves the mandate.
The CEO is straightforward to work with and expects one thing above all: when you commit to something, it happens without follow-up.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Treasury and liquidity. Cash forecasting and working capital across a multi-site footprint. Direct management of banking relationships, ABL mechanics, borrowing base certificates, and covenant compliance. DIO discipline in a business where product sits in kilns for weeks.
Margin and conversion cost. Margin by site, product, and customer. Partnership with mill and yard operations on yield variance, conversion cost, absorption, and freight and landed cost. Translating what happens on the mill floor into decisions the executive team can act on.
Forecasting and sponsor reporting. Budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning. Direct ownership of the sponsor and board reporting package, including KPI and covenant reporting. The analytical case behind capital allocation.
Administration and contracts. Contract administration and commercial agreements alongside external counsel. Oversight of insurance, risk, and related administrative functions.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The scarcest thing about this role is plant-level cost accounting. If you have personally owned yield variance, absorption, and WIP costing at a production site rather than consolidating it from above, you are the profile we are looking for.
- 10 years of progressive finance leadership, with substantial time inside manufacturing or raw-material processing. Plant, mill, or production site. Distribution alone is not a fit.
- Personal ownership of standard costing, variance analysis, and absorption in a process or conversion environment
- Direct ownership of treasury for a $100M business, including lender relationships and covenant compliance, rather than oversight of a treasury manager or shared services
- Multi-site margin analysis and forecasting
- Senior finance experience inside a private equity–backed or institutionally owned business, reporting to the sponsor
- Track record leading a sizeable finance organization across decentralized locations
- Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance. CPA welcome, not required.
- Industrial or materials manufacturing background preferred: lumber and wood products, building products, metals, aggregates, glass, packaging, or process manufacturing
ON OFFER
Direct partnership with the CEO, visibility with the sponsor and board, and a broad mandate spanning treasury, commercial finance, and administration. Competitive base plus performance bonus.
