Security Officer
Position Summary
The Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding the life, property, and interests of guests, employees, and visitors across the entire hotel campus. This is a multi-building assignment covering three connected structures: (17 guest floors and 5 condominium floors), the Parking Garage (6 floors), and the Vine Center (17 designated floors, numbered 1–18 with no 13th floor). The Security Officer maintains a visible, professional presence, enforces access control, monitors life-safety systems, and responds to emergencies in accordance with property protocols.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Access Control & Property Security
- Perform building lockups and unlocks across all three structures
- Monitor and control building access points to prevent unauthorized entry
- Conduct routine patrols of the interior and exterior of the premises
- Identify and report damaged property or malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department
- Receive and inspect incoming truck deliveries; log and route packages appropriately
- Conduct employee bag checks in accordance with property loss-prevention policy
- Manage and process Lost and Found items
Guest & Staff Safety
- Ensure the ongoing safety and wellbeing of all guests, employees, and visitors
- De-escalate conflicts involving guests, staff, or visitors using verbal intervention techniques
- Respond to and manage intoxicated guests, including removal when de-escalation is unsuccessful
- Respond to and manage the removal of unauthorized or unhoused individuals from the property
- Provide dedicated security coverage for VIP guests and high-profile events
Monitoring & Emergency Systems
- Monitor CCTV camera systems for the entire property continuously
- Monitor the fire control panel and life-safety alarm systems for activations or faults
- Contact and coordinate with emergency services (fire, police, EMS) as situations require
Communication & Administration
- Maintain current knowledge of site-specific policies, procedures, and emergency plans
- Relay pertinent information between hotel departments in a timely manner
- Document all incidents, patrols, and code responses accurately and thoroughly
Emergency Code Response
Security Officers must recognize and respond to all property emergency codes. At minimum, Security responds to every code for documentation purposes; certain codes require a heightened security presence and direct action.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergencies and high-stress situations
- Strong verbal communication and de-escalation skills
- Ability to patrol multiple buildings and floors, including stairs, for extended periods
- Ability to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Familiarity with CCTV, fire panel, and alarm monitoring systems preferred
- Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred
