The Distribution Lead/ Driver (A.M. Shift) is responsible for coordinating and loading the delivery of CK products to customers. This individual will create routes and dispatch personnel to meet the delivery needs of the customer while ensuring orders are filled correctly and safely in an efficient manner. This position assists with communicating, reviewing, and scheduling the maintenance needs of the delivery vehicles for the safety of the employees, customers, and general public.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises the Fill Plant Technicians for the loading and unloading of cylinders and supplies to/from vehicles using forklifts, hand carts, and other manual movements.
  • Assist in the loading of trucks to ensure trucks get on the road in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate deliveries of products to customers.
  • Serve has the backup for Cylinder Dispatcher.
  • Make necessary adjustments with routes, personnel, and equipment on an as-needed basis throughout the shift.
  • Assist with scheduling and maintenance of delivery vehicles.
  • Assist in training and developing all delivery personnel, as directed by the distribution manager.
  • Communicate with Branch Managers regarding store shuttle transfers.
  • Comply with all administrative guidelines and complete required reports in a timely manner.
  • Update and discuss issues with the Distribution Manager and Fill Plant Manager daily.
  • Ensure all required cylinders are barcoded properly before being loaded for distribution to customers.
  • Exhibit a courteous and professional image to customers and employees.
  • Complete/review daily trip reports and shipping papers concerning deliveries.
  • Ensure drivers maintain the proper cleanliness of assigned vehicles and enforce the completion of pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Conform to uniform and safety equipment policies.
  • Communicate with customers and relay pertinent information back to Distribution and Sales managers.
  • Follow and enforce all safety guidelines and requirements including proper personal protective equipment for employees and visitors
  • Adhere to the CK Core Values through behavior and words
  • Other duties, as assigned, within the job classification and business

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous supervisory experience, required
  • Preferred, Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with a Hazardous Material Endorsement and have a good driving record exhibited by state MVR reports
  • Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
  • Capable of completing basic mathematical calculations and entering correct information on logs and other reports.
  • Vision correctable to within normal range for vehicle driving and completion of reports.
  • Must be able to work independently while also working with a team to meet shared goals.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to move or lift products and materials of varied sizes and weights, sometimes in excess of 75 pounds.
  • Position requires prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing.
  • Must have the ability to operate all necessary equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work in noisy, loud conditions, that at times will require PPE
  • Work in all seasons of outdoor weather conditions

REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT

All proper safety equipment must be worn according to company policies and regulations including safety glasses, safety boots, and ear protection while in any area considered safety-sensitive.
